The partnership between NCLW and UNFPA Lebanon dates back to 2006, having as aim to promote gender equality and empowerment of women as well as enhance gender mainstreaming. This partnership is therefore, a long term joint venture encompassing 10 years national strategy for women, and is endeavoring to enforce its action plan, which essentially involves:

- Generating and Analyzing data for the purpose of monitoring national frameworks;

- Advocating the advancement and promotion of gender equality;

- Provide support for the implementation of the National action plan for women, peace, and security.

Previously, a co-financing agreement between the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW) and The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) had taken place in April 2018, which was finalized in January 2019 so as to start the implementation of the 2019 work-plan for a project named “National Women enhancement of Machinery Capacities for Advancing Gender Equality”. Both parties have agreed to extend the terms and conditions stipulated in the original agreement which was established in 2018 to be implemented in 2019, however with the exception of articles I.2 and II.3, which are requested to be amended as per the following:

-A contribution amount of USD 25,570 shall be received from the Donor, which is NCLW and the Lebanese Government who represents this venture through NCLW, for the national women project for the enhancement of machinery capacities for advancing gender equality.

-In addition to the remaining balance from NCLW’s previous contribution, which amounts to a total of USD 5,933.42 from the year 2018 to 2019, this remaining amount shall be allocated towards the 2019 work plan which is aimed at the advancing gender equality project.

-The term of the new program shall run from January 2019 to January 2020. Lasting for a period of 12 months; or upon the receipt of the remaining funds by UNFPA.  

The Budget for the entire year is set for a total amount of 90,164 through the contribution of both parties.
